FAQs for Giving from Planning Center

Q: Will my recurring giving through vanco stop automatically?

A: No. You will need to cancel your Vanco Services account and set up new recurring giving in Giving. If you need help, please contact Keven at financial@christchurchmequon.org.

Q: why aren't my past gifts showing up in Church Center?

A: For the privacy and security of your data, we have chosen not to migrate your donation history from Vanco Services to Giving by Planning Center. In December of 2022, Christ Church will provide year-end statements for both accounts. Moving forward, you can access your giving history at any time through your Church Center Donation History, which is just one of the features that led us to this switch.

Q: Why did my donation receipt email go to the address that it did?

A: Each time you make a donation, a receipt email will go out to the primary email address that we have on file for you. If you want to receive these confirmations somewhere else, please update your profile with your preferred primary email address.

Q: automatic verification isn't working. What do I do?

A: There are still some banks (like BMO) and credit unions that don't support Plaid's instant account verification system. If you search for their bank and can't find it, you can still verify your bank manually by entering your routing and account numbers and verifying two small deposit amounts ("micro-deposits").

Giving by Planning Center previously used Stripe's system for this micro-deposit verification process. Now, they're letting Plaid handle that process because they have a few distinct advantages:

  1. Many banks that don't support instant verification still support Plaid's "Automatic Micro-Deposits" system. In those cases, Plaid can complete the micro-deposit verification process automatically. You don't have to do a thing but will simply get an email after the process is complete saying, "Your bank account has been verified."
  2. Plaid's micro-deposit system uses same-day ACH transfers. This means less lag time between adding your bank account and seeing those small deposits post to your account.
